Rijksakademie Band
Hello again! It’s been a while since the last entry.
It’s very hot in Europe now.
I had a photo shoot of the works I put in an extra studio.
After the shoot, I had a coffee with the camera man. We were talking about a music band.
When I told him that some of the people here were planning to form ‘Rijksakademie Band’ (although no progress since Sascia quit her secretary job here), he said ‘You know, there are less bands starting in a music school; most of the time, bands start in an art school.’
Hum... interesting.... Yes, there is a kind of music which starts from such a motivation (note 1).
Note 1: A kind of music which starts from a simple desire to make some noises. For those people, those noises are aspects of music – music in a minimal sense.
These days, there are some music schools for such purpose. But I wonder... how do they ‘teach’ to do something like that?
An Extra Studio
I did not paint much during the first half of this year. Instead of painting, I have been working on what I call ‘drawings’ (three-dimensional works) and ‘pre-paintings’ (semi-three-dimensional works).
For me, it was a research to see what happens if I try to create a ‘painting’ in a space not on canvas.
What I’ve learned from these experiments is that it is difficult to deal with the processes of ‘creating’ and ‘seeing’ in the same space.
In this respect, I realized, a canvas is something helpful and useful.
Since there was no more room in my studio, I asked for a small space for my extra studio, and moved some of my stuff there. Now I have some space in my studio. I can finally paint. Good.
France vs. Brazil
Every game is an amazing game...! All the games since quarter-final are simply amazing.
I was watching a game between Brazil and France today. More than the fact that there were some mistakes, what impressed me was the excellence of each play. They showed us what it is to be ‘excelled’ at playing football. I cannot help but thank them for exhibiting such play.
Henry scored a goal, which made me very happy.
